Parish life
Prayer Chain
The prayer chain is a way for people to gain assistance in prayer for serious problems. Most prayer chains are for a continuous 24-hour period. Your commitment (from the comfort of your own home) would be one hour of dedicated time spent in prayerful meditation in any form from saying the rosary to reading the bible to formal prayers, to singing – whatever way that you can honor God.
The prayer chain at Our Lady of Mount Carmel is currently looking for more parishioners and anyone else that can commit to one hour of prayer for requests that we receive. These intentions will be forwarded on to the names on the email prayer-chain list. It should be noted that praying when the rest of the world is asleep is very efficacious, i.e., the hours from midnight to 6:00 a.m. Prayer is a way for each of us to reach out of ourselves for the sake of another – to act on God’s command to love one another. O Beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a pure virgin, assist us in our necessity! O Star of the Sea, help and protect us! Show us that you are our Mother!

Second Day (8 July)
Most Holy Mary, Our Mother, in your great love for us you gave us the Holy Scapular of Mount Carmel, having heard the prayers of your chosen son Saint Simon Stock. Help us now to wear it faithfully and with devotion. May it be a sign to us of our desire to grow in holiness.
